Bitcoin Asia 2026! Did you get your Solo Miner?

Stepping Onto the Nakamoto Stage: Why Hong Kong Is Where Bitcoin Belongs
A personal reflection on speaking at Bitcoin Asia, launching HKBITCOINCITY.com, and watching a city orange-pill itself, one merchant at a time.

There's a moment before you walk on stage where everything goes quiet. The noise of the crowd, the hum of the AV equipment, the nervous chatter in the green room: it all fades. It's just you, your heartbeat, and the thing you came to say.
I had that moment at Bitcoin Asia in Hong Kong. And then I walked out onto the Nakamoto stage.
Hong Kong: My Favorite City in the World
I need to say this plainly, because people ask me all the time: why Hong Kong? After El Salvador, after everything, why here?
Because Hong Kong is a Magic city. Full stop.
This city has an energy that's hard to describe unless you've felt it. It's the kind of place where ambition meets tradition, where East meets West, where the pace of innovation is matched only by the depth of culture. And right now, it's becoming Asia's Bitcoin hub. Not because someone decreed it, but because the people here are hungry for financial sovereignty. They want to understand self-custody. They want to hold their own keys. They want Bitcoin in their businesses and in their lives.
When I stood on that Nakamoto stage, I wasn't just speaking to a room of conference attendees. I was speaking to a city that's waking up to Bitcoin. And that's a feeling I'll never forget.
The Talk
If you weren't there, you can watch the full talk here: Making Hong Kong The Bitcoin City | Bitcoin Asia 2026
I spoke about what I've learned over 10 years in Bitcoin, including 1.5 years living inside El Salvador's Bitcoin circular economy, where I saw firsthand what happens when a small community actually uses Bitcoin as money. As money, for groceries, for haircuts, for everything.
That experience shaped everything I do now with The Whale Lounge HK. It taught me that Bitcoin adoption doesn't start with policy. It starts with people. One conversation at a time. One merchant at a time. Financial education comes first, then One orange-pill at a time.
And it taught me that the next chapter of Bitcoin adoption isn't going to happen in one country. It's going to happen in cities all over the world, and Hong Kong is ready to be one of them.
The biggest moment of the talk wasn't anything I said about myself. It was the Why we are so bullish about building HKBITCOINCITY.com project.
HKBITCOINCITY is a grassroots initiative to onboard Hong Kong merchants to accept Bitcoin payment city wide : real businesses, accepting real Bitcoin payments, building a real circular economy right here in the city we all love.
28 merchants have already been onboarded.
Not planned. Not “coming soon.” Done. Twenty-eight businesses in Hong Kong are now part of this project. They're real. They're live. And the momentum is only building.
I have strong faith in what we're building here. Not blind faith. I've been around Bitcoin long enough to know that adoption is messy, slow, and full of setbacks. But I've also seen it work. I've watched a tiny village in El Salvador become a Bitcoin friendly. I know what the early days look like, and I know what it could be if financial education is there.
We're going to keep showing up.
Here's what I'm most excited to share: there's now a live public map where anyone (you, your friends, your business network) can go see the project and the merchants in real time.map.hkbitcoincity.com
Pull it up. Zoom in. See the businesses that are already living the Bitcoin standard in Hong Kong. If you're local, go visit them. Pay them in Bitcoin. Tell them you found them on the map. Every transaction is a vote for a more open financial system.
And if you're a merchant, or you know one, who should be on that map, reach out. We're just getting started.
What's Next
The Nakamoto stage was my first Bitcoin Speech. The message of what we're building in Hong Kong, it's gaining traction. The world needs to hear it over and over until  all merchants are set up.
Here's what I'd love for you to do next:
•    Explore the map at map.hkbitcoincity.com and see the Bitcoin economy growing in Hong Kong
•    Check out HKBITCOINCITY.com to learn more about the project and how to get involved
•    Watch the talk on YouTube if you want the full story
•    Book an Orange Glove Service consultation if you or your company are ready to take the next step into Bitcoin, whether that's self-custody education, multi-sig setup, or a corporate treasury strategy. We'll meet you where you are. No jargon. No pressure. Just practical guidance from people who live this every day.
One Conversation at a Time
That's our mission at The Whale Lounge HK: educate, empower, and orange-pill the world, one conversation at a time.
The Nakamoto stage was one conversation. A big one, sure. But the real work happens in the smaller ones. The Wednesday meetups in Kowloon. The monthly gatherings at IFC. The one-on-one sessions where someone holds a hardware wallet for the first time and realizes, this is mine. Nobody can take this from me. Join the Telegram group: The Whale Lounge Hk
